Susan C. McEwen, LCSW

Susan C. McEwen, LCSW, has been a clinical social worker for 30 years, having graduated with her Master of Social Work degree from New York University in 1978.  She has a solid track record of community service and advocacy for the mentally ill and developmentally disabled.  Sue has provided expert field instruction for all levels of social work education in a variety of agency settings.  The challenges of professional writing and publication are her passions now.  She keeps up with her private practice called Pittsfield Counseling Associates, her 2 children, now almost young adults, and her original art and writing ideas.  A down to earth, sensitive, and enthusiastic speaker, Sue provides "great stuff" to take back to the office and use with clients.

Sue's personal life demonstrates familiarity with the joys and struggles many of her clients have had. She is the legal guardian for her mentally ill sister and the dedicated mother of her autistic son. After 22 years of marriage, Sue has experienced divorce and knows it as a growth step, keeping a positive relationship with the father of her children.

The counseling office is a private, comfortable room on the first floor. Individuals, couples, families, and groups are given expert treatment attention for addictions, DEEP/OUIs, Mental health, sex offenses, victimizations, anger, and divorce.

Health insurance benefits cover the counseling services usually.  The fee is $75.00 for a 50-minute individual hour.  24 hour advance notice for cancellation or a no-show fee of $50 is a policy.  The schedule of appointments is flexible with daytime and evening times.  The telephone is answered with private personal attention to inquiries, scheduling, and account information.  An answering machine is used when the phone is not answered by Sue or her office manager Cathy.  Calls are returned within 24 hours.
