S.T.O.P.
(a.k.a. Structured Treatment for Offense Prevention)
This therapeutic tool aids in the treatment process for sex offenders by promoting honest, open, fearlessly searching responses to issues raised in readiness, recovery, support systems and relapse prevention categories. It is helpful system of educating about offense cycles, victims’ perspective, the culture of turning a blind eye, and mistaken beliefs/attitudes. When used in a group as a therapeutic game, this tool will encourage appropriate, supportive group counseling interactions among the participants. If paraprofessionals or peer group leaders are co leading,
S.T.O.P. can provide treatment direction. For individual counseling,
S.T.O.P. focuses the treatment tasks and clinical expectations.

The S.T.O.P. package includes 60 cards, 16 chips, the rules of the game, goals for each card/task, a score pad, and a bibliography.
Sex offenders who have made use of this tool have spoken about its excellence in helping them focus on essential treatment issues. and how complete and detailed the program is. Clients have been better able to see the reason for their required counseling.
